Hearing European Parliament: The circus, part of European Culture: New Challenge!!
On initiative of the EVP (chaired by Mrs. Pack) there was a hearing in the European Parliament about the Circus situation in Europe. Education and Training was one of the themes. The Stichting Rijdende School (Mr. Wouter Tuyn) was invited as expert.

EFECOT website
The Stichting Rijdende School (Netherlands) took the initiative to keep the EFECOT website alive. We think that this web site contains usefull information for those who are working with travellers. In the coming weeks we will update the website as far as possible and as far we have the necessary information.

EFECOT dissolved.
Dear all,

Herewith we inform you that since the 1st of December 2003 our organisation EFECOT is dissolved.
We thank you for your collaboration and your commitment in the network with regard to the education of the Travelling Communities in Europe.
We hope that some of the partners of the network can and will take initiatives to continue the transnational collaboration.

The Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, the Media and Sport of the European Parliament asked the Directorate-General for Research to make a report on the situation of the circus and circus artists in the European Union Member states. .

Launching "Peep behind the scene" website
On the 25th of August the Website “A peep behind the scenes: a virtual exhibition on travelling fairs and showmen in Europe, from the middle ages till now”. was launched on the Schueberfouer in Luxemburg City. The website creates a virtual exposition to the centuries-old history of the travelling funfair. Next to the virtual exhibition it offeres a childrens' section with active education trials.

Education for Travelling communities in Europe, Back to the Future!
A price cannot be placed on the commitment, progress and expertise demonstrated over the last twenty years on behalf of the education of the travelling communities.
The Resolutions of the Council of the EU in 1989 made a significant commitment to Traveller education, however, without the appropriate updating of commitment/policies and funding, these Resolutions ring hollow.
