LIFE ON THE FAIR
| The CD-rom ãLife on the
Fairä is a brand new EFECOT project outcome and is intended to inform
the general public about the culture of the Fairground. Valerie Moody of the Showmenâs Guild of Great Britain wanted schools to have authentic material that portrayed Fairground life and history in a way endorsed by Fairground people. Maximum use and benefit of this material is achieved by its relevance to the English National Curriculum and its easily accessible form - web pages. In Years 2, 3, 4 & 5 work on Fairground information can be naturally included in the existing curriculum plans. The pages include work on electricity and materials, homes, map work, safety and comparing life since the 1930âs with today. This work is in the format of hypertext mark up files or HTML and can be viewed using Microsoft Windows Explorer. The computer does not need to be linked up to the Internet. Children can log on to the Sheffield Fairground Archives through these pages to research further themselves and they can work on the pages in writing boxes and print this out with other parts of the screen to record their work. |
